On April 25,
1989, I, Laura LeCureux, was born in the Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan. When I
was still a baby, my parents decided to join Trans World Radio (TWR), and at the
age of two my family and I moved to Bonaire, which is a tiny island in the
Caribbean above Venezuela.
I can’t remember much about Bonaire, but I do
know that it’s hot, dry, and windy there, and that I enjoyed being there as
well. After a year and half in Bonaire, we were transferred to Sri Lanka. Sri
Lanka, another island, can be found right under the tip of India. I have to
admit, I never enjoyed living in Sri Lanka. It’s a third world country that was
plagued with war, pollution, starvation, and false religions. Although I think
Sri Lanka was both a bad and good experience for me. I learned things about
life, compassion, and how much most people take for granted. And plus, whenever
life seems a little rough now, I can always look back on Sri Lanka and say,
“It’s better than that.” I lived in Sri Lanka until 1998, when we moved to Guam
.Guam is a U.S. territory and is more Americanized that most people think when
they think of it as a foreign country. It has K-mart, McDonalds and Wendy’s and
Burger King, Taco Bell…etc. And the main language is English. It’s hot and humid
here, and on the southern part of the island is beautiful scenery. Living in
Guam is pretty good, and a whole lot better than Sri Lanka.
Here, I continue home-schooling, as I’ve done all my life, and live an average
life. Some of the things I like to do to pass time here are playing piano,
swimming, hanging out with friends, watching television, and writing things.
Well, all that pretty much sums up my physical life, but I also have a spiritual
life and testimony. I grew up in a Godly family and came to know Christ when I
was only four years old. And because I was very little at the time, I have
rededicated my life to God. I am now trying to live my life according to his
will everyday .
